TUM - Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis project “Structural and functional investigation of the protein C19orf12 involved in the neurodegenerative disease MPAN”

Doctoral theses and postdoc positions

We are always looking for excellent, highly motivated doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows.
Doctoral thesis and postdoctoral research projects are available in different aspects of our research:

  • Biochemistry and structural biology of proteins, RNA linked to RNA biology (splicing, non-coding RNAs
  • Biochemistry and structural biology of Hsp90/complexes, peroxisome biogenesis and cellular signalling
  • NMR methods, integrated structural biology (i.e. combining NMR, crystallography, cryo-EM, SAXS/SANS)
  • Structure-based drug discovery

Please directly contact Michael Sattler (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) for inquiries.

How to find BNMRZ  [Directions to Forschungscampus Garching]

  by car:
use Autobahn A9 (München - Nürnberg) and take the exit "Garching Nord". Follow the Signs that guide you to "Forschungsinstitute" and via Boltzmannstrasse to Ernst-Otto-fischer-Strasse 2 / BNMRZ (cf. campus map below).

by train and public transport:
from Munich main station (München HBf.) take any S-Bahn train in the downtown direction until "Marienplatz" (2nd stop), then switch to underground line U6, direction "Garching-Forschungsgelände" (northern terminus). From the station in the campus center (marked "U" in the map below), walk to the BNMRZ building (ca. 5 min.). For S-Bahn / U-Bahn network maps, train schedules etc. please see MVV homepage.

  by plane:
from Munich Airport you can reach us by car/taxi or S-Bahn/bus. Take commuter train S1 to Neufahrn and change to bus number 690 towards direction Garching Forschungszentrum The bus stops at the entrance to the subway ("U") at Garching-Forschungszentrum (see map below). From there it is a 5 min walk to the BNMRZ building.

How to find us on the campus in Garching:

Follow the signs to the building of the Department of Chemistry. The BNMRZ builiding is located north of the Chemistry Building, just pass and walk around on the West (!) side of the Chemistry building until you see the red BNMRZ building.
